Our First Christmas

Luckily, I have accepted the fact that I will not achieve my mother's decorating perfection until I have had her many years of experience.  With that said, I was determined to make our first Christmas as a married couple a special one.  As a child, I remember playing Nat King Cole's Christmas CD and sitting in front of the fireplace while marveling at the beauty that was my mother's Christmas decorations.  Emmanuel and I decided on red as our main color with gold as an accent.  In true Beryl Love (my mother) style, my mother sent a care package full of garland, red and gold bows, lights, etc.  After a few hours of rearranging everything in our already packed apartment, our Christmas decorations were set.  Below is our tree and next to it is my mother's tree, so you can see what my aspirations are.

On to our actual Christmas.... Like I said, I was determined to make Christmas special.  Being that Emmanuel is a Rookie Trooper, he had to work Christmas morning, so I spent the day in the kitchen making ham, shrimp fettuccini, green bean casserole, and sweet potato and pumpkin pie.  Emmanuel and I sat down for dinner, said a prayer, and stuffed our faces.  It was very rewarding to establish our Christmas traditions together as a married couple.
